World Suicide Prevention Day
Today, September 10th, students and teachers at Houston County Middle and High Schools observed World Suicide Prevention Day by wearing Love Like Lexi shirts or the colors teal and purple. These colors are symbols of suicide prevention awareness. September is recognized as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. In Alabama, suicide is the 13th leading cause of death, the 3rd leading cause for individuals aged 15-24, and the 2nd leading cause for those aged 10-14.
Our students have been significantly impacted by the Love Like Lexi Project. Andrea Mills, the founder and mother of Lexi, continues to share her message of hope with students across the country. If possible, let’s continue to support her and her family by promoting awareness and providing resources for those in need.
