Since returning from Christmas Break and the recent Winter Storm, we have observed an increase in students using listening devices and frequently checking smartwatches during school hours. While these devices have their time and place, the school day is not appropriate for their use.

We kindly ask that you discuss with your child the importance of adhering to AMS rules and maintaining focus during the school day. Following these guidelines ensures a productive and distraction-free learning environment for all students.

Looking forward to your support on this matter.

According to page 18 of the HCBOE Code of Conduct :
COMMUNICATION DEVICE POLICY
Houston County Schools understands that the use of technology has become an integral part of today’s society, however, it is also imperative that students develop and use their social and verbal communication skills. For this reason, cell phones and other digital devices^, such as, but not limited to, smart watches and Air pods/earbuds will not be permissible during the school day – from the first bell to the final bell [of school] unless it is authorized by the school administration for instructional purposes.

Each Teacher has sets of headphones for students to use during class. We are fixing to begin the 7th month, so this is nothing new and all have been warned. Thank you for your time and please discuss with your child.
